Line Leader Hero of Military Medicine

Amos assumed the duties of Commandant of the Marine Corps in October 2010. A graduate of the University of Idaho, Amos has held command at all levels from lieutenant colonel to lieutenant general. He is a champion of research into the seen and unseen wounds of war, including traumatic brain injury, posttraumatic stress and prosthetics. He is a strong advocate for civilian and military partnerships to advance medical care for men and women serving their country. An active supporter of military medicine, he has praised the efforts of uniformed medical professionals serving at duty stations around the world. He has witnessed their valuable work during multiple deployments and his visits to injured service members.
