HM3 (FMF) Schuyler B. Nesbitt, USN

2018 Navy Hero of Military Medicine

HM3 Nesbitt was raised in Syracuse NY, where he competed in wrestling throughout high school. He also spent time in the Republic of Kenya doing aid work in the village of Kamanzi. He enlisted on the 5th of November 2012 and attended boot camp at RTC Great Lakes. His first duty station was Naval Weapons Station Yorktown. HN Nesbitt reported to Naval Hospital Center Portsmouth next, where he was deployed on the USNS Comfort, providing medical care in Cuba, Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama. He then reported to 1st Marine Division, where he deployed with the 31st MEU as the senior line corpsman for Golf Battery, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines and was meritoriously promoted 11 SEP 17. He was qualified as a Fleet Marine Force sailor the same year.
