2014 Heroes of Military Medicine Awards

Thursday, 1 May 2014 6:30 pm

The Heroes of Military Medicine (HMM) Awards honors outstanding contributions by individuals who have distinguished themselves through excellence and selfless dedication to advancing military medicine and enhancing the lives and health of our nation’s wounded, ill and injured service members, veterans, and their families. The Heroes of Military Medicine is presented by the Center for Public-Private Partnerships (CP3) at the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. (HJF).

Three of the five awards to be presented at the HMM dinner will be given to active duty military medical professionals from the Army, Navy and Air Force, respectively.  The Offices of the Surgeon General for each service nominated the candidates for these three awards.  The final honorees were chosen by the HMM Advisory Committee.

In addition to the Lifetime Achievement Award, Hero of Military Medicine Senior Leader Honoree, and the three active duty military medical professional awards, the HMM dinner will feature a Keynote Speaker to be announced shortly and a HMM Tribute Speaker.

This year's HMM Tribute Speaker is CPT Larkin O'Hern, USA.

Proceeds from the HMM dinner support The Veteran Metrics Initiative (TVMI).

Lifetime Achievement Award

As the Chairman of the Fisher House Foundation, Mr. Fisher oversees a remarkable organization that accelerates the healing of these warriors by making it possible for their loved ones to travel to and remain with them for as long as the recovery process requires. Through their work, Mr. Fisher is carrying forward the remarkable Fisher Family tradition of patriotic service to our grateful nation. In recognition of Mr. Fisher's invaluable leadership and tireless dedication, we are pleased to present him with the 2014 Hero of Military Medicine Lifetime Achievement Award.

Hero of Military Medicine Senior Leader Honoree

As Chief of Staff of the United States Army, General Odierno has recognized the imperative that military medical professionals continuously apply the lessons of the past decade of combat to ensure that they remain on the cutting edge of medical capabilities and support. He is committed to sustaining our high-quality All-Volunteer Army, in which military medicine plays a critical role by providing world class health care for Wounded Warriors, Soldiers, Families, Civilians, and Retirees. In recognition of General Odierno's invaluable leadership, we are pleased to present him with the 2014 Hero of Military Medicine Senior Leader Award.
